Obituary

Cora Elizabeth Foster Spacek, 89, of Arlington, TX departed peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 30 in Bedford, TX.

Elizabeth was born January 24, 1931 in Houston, TX to Elmer and Eva Lena Foster. Elizabeth always felt the utmost gratitude to her birth family for placing her with foster parents who loved her as their own. She was raised by the late Edward and Lucile Crudup and graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff.

Elizabeth was active in her church and enjoyed a wide range of activities including working with children, quilting, cooking, arts and crafts, crossword puzzles, travel, and building a playhouse for her youngest granddaughter from scratch. She was comfortable in the city as well as on the farm where she and her husband raised livestock and crops. After retirement, she worked as a cook in a school cafeteria, an insurance adjuster, and continued volunteer work.

Elizabeth is survived by daughters Patti (Karl Brock) Simmons of Grand Prairie, and Lisa (John) Kennedy of Arlington; brother Ed (Shirley) Crudup Jr., sisters Jeanne Bowman and Carole (Jerry) Estes; grandchildren Janelle, Emily, Ma’at, Jason, Isaac, Tiffany, and Benjamin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and greatgrandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Spacek, her parents, brothers James Foster and Alfred Foster, sisters Ruby Lee Dobbs and Dora Leona Floyd, her daughter Susan Simmons, and her grandson Brian Brock.
In honor of Elizabeth’s life, memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society.
