Obituary

Elmo E. Pannell, 87, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, May 28, 2021 just 3 days prior to his 88th birthday.
Elmo married Anita June Lockaby, the love of his life, on April 23, 1953 in Gober, TX. He served his country honorably during the Korean War. After his return, he and June moved to Fort Worth, TX for a short period of time before making their home in Arlington.
Elmo owned several service stations and eventually began Pannell Wrecker Service before his retirement in 1984. Elmo also served the City of Pantego as a Reserved Police Office for 10 years. He and June then became involved in the antique business, working at numerous Antique Malls in the DFW area. He then retired a second time to spend quality time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grand kids, who affectionately called him "Poppy" and "Pappaw".
Elmo was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and attended New York Ave Church of Christ until his illness prevented him from attending regularly.
Elmo is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mattie Pannell, 2 brothers J.T. and George Pannell and one sister Rosie Grounds. He is survived by his wife of 68 years June Pannell, Son Ricky Pannell and Son-in-Law Ken Prachar , Son Monte Pannell and Daughter Becky Nicks, Grandchildren Jessica McKinney and husband Jeff, Matthew Nicks, Brandon Pannell, Kyndle Todd and Kensey Clifton and Great Grandchildren Reese Shaw, Ryker and Conor McKinney . Surviving Sister Mamie Hyepock and husband Wade, Sister Doris Jackson and husband Henry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
