Obituary

Jesse John Harvey, “Papa,” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, May 10, 2021, at the age of 78, in Kennedale, Texas.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, May 18 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, 76013. Interment will be Wednesday, May 19 at 3:15 pm. Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, 75211. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the North Texas Humane Society (hsnt.org).
Jesse was born in Burbank, California, on August 31, 1943, to Walter Harvey and Frances McGee Harvey. He participated in the baseball program and graduated from Arlington High in 1961. Jesse started his military career in 1962 in Sacramento, CA, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant (E5). After serving 4 years in the US Marines Air Wing as an Air Traffic Controller he began his career at Vought in 1967. During the first seven years at Vought as a Class A inspector on major programs he earned a math and science degree from El Centro Jr College. When he retired in 1999 after 32 years with Vought, he was a Senior Quality Control Manager.

He met the “love of his life”, Earline, at LTV Credit Union in 1982. They were married on October 19, 1989. While Jesse didn’t have children of his own, he immediately gained a son and daughter and called them his own. He loved his new family completely and the love was evident to anyone who knew him. He loved deeply and unconditionally. Upon retirement they relocated to Pecan Plantation in Granbury. While in Granbury they developed many lasting friendships. They also enjoyed traveling and honing their game of golf. He had a love for learning and teaching which was evident in his work ethic. His love of the game of golf was passed on to his son and all his grandchildren. He was also a lover of animals and spoiled them rotten given the chance.

Papa Jesse will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Earline, daughter, Terri and husband, Nathan Basham; son, Jeff and wife, Missy McGarr; grandsons’ Bobby McGarr, Tyler Davault and wife, Jessica; Brandon McGarr, Spencer Basham, Bryant McGarr and wife, Brittney; and great- grandchildren, Konnor, Jameson, Luka, David, Olivia, and Hasting.
