Luz Silva Cervantes

A loving mother, grandmother, devoted daughter, sister, and loyal friend. Born in Iloilo City, Philippines,
on January 23, 1949, Luz was the only daughter of the 5 children of Joaquin Silva and Salvacion Eigo.

She graduated from Iloilo National High School in 1966 and from Central Philippine University College of Nursing in 1971. While in school, she was active with the Young Women’s Christian Association, Baptist Center Church Choir, and Baptist Youth Fellowship.

She immigrated to the United States in the mid 70’s and worked as a registered nurse for 43 years. Baptist Hospital, Memphis, TN, Methodist Hospital, Dallas, Texas and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, were her places of employment until her retirement in 2014. Her nursing career involved mentoring
countless new nurses and introducing them to the wonderful profession.

Luz loved to be involved in her community. Her primary residence was in Dallas, Texas. She was a charter member and officer of the Central Philippine University North Texas Alumni Association and an active member of the Dallas Metroplex International Church. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time traveling to the Philippines where she had built a retirement home.

Luz went to be with her heavenly Father on January 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Ray Cervantes, son and daughter-in-law, Jun (Raul) and Courtney Cervantes, and grandchildren, Isabella, Alexander, Adam, and Audrey.

The End is Great for Believers.....
Matthew 11:28 - 30 "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest
for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Rest In Peace
