Obituary

Ann Alexander went peacefully to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 20, 2019 in Arlington. She was a woman of faith who knew that she had a blessed life and that she was loved by many.

Celebration of Life: 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 27, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at the funeral home.
Memorials: Those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may contribute to the Community Enrichment Center (CEC).

Ann was born in Ardmore, OK on April 29, 1937 to Graham (Rattler) Alexander and Ruth Costley Alexander and had one sister, Della Ruth Silva. They were very proud of their Chickasaw Nation heritage.

Ann attended school in Ardmore with the exception of two Junior High School years which were spent in Las Cruces and Roswell, New Mexico. She went to summer school and graduated after the 11th grade, which was unusual at that time. She attended East Central State Teachers College in Ada, OK.

Ann married Troy Bowman of Chattanooga, TN in 1955 and they traveled with the USAF living in a number of interesting places. Before Troy’s retirement from the service, they adopted three children: Kimberly Ann Smith, and Kellie Alexis Guinn who were born in Biloxi, MS and Lance Thompson Bowman, born in Denver, CO. In July of 1971, they retired to Arlington, TX.

Ann’s career was as a Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and she was a member of the Fort Worth National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM), later renamed Institute of Supply Management (ISM) until her death. She served in several officer positions within the association, including President during 1986-87. Ann was a purchasing agent for several well-known companies in the metroplex from 1977 to 2008 when she retired from the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC).

Ann married Marcus (Mark) Frey, owner of MF Automotive Equipment in September 1987. They were fishermen on the Texas gulf coast and also kept a vacation home at Blue Water Shores in Granbury until his death in September 2005.

Ann had a love of travel all her life and made many trips and worldwide cruises. She was a woman of strong faith, was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and attended The Hills since 1983.

She married Donald E. Propst in 2007 and in their retirement years they traveled, going on cruises whenever they could. Ann and Don also did volunteer work. In retirement, Ann volunteered for Healing Hands, International and the Community Enrichment Center (CEC). Ann and Don were active members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Fort Worth Lodge #251 until his death in July 2019.

Ann was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, and a granddaughter, Sophia Alexis Guinn.

Survivors: Children, Kimberly Smith and husband, Bob, Kellie Guinn and husband, Alan, and Lance Bowman and wife, Danielle; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.

I’ve known Ann since the 2nd grade. She almost like a second mom to me growing up. Always a kind person and she always kept the fridge stocked with pickles for me. Truly a wonderful woman that will be missed by all that knew her and loved her. Scott Coppinger
